Even when a bout ends early, the official result can still be decided by how the fighters were scoring the rounds that were completed. If the stoppage happens after enough rounds have been fought, the result can be a technical decision based on the judges’ scores from those rounds. The fighter who is ahead on those scores at the moment of stoppage wins. The timekeeper’s whistle just stops the action; it doesn’t decide the winner. The crowd’s reaction or the coach’s favorite fighter have no official effect on the outcome.
